Technological advances in the design of modern AK prostheses have led to significant improvements in recent years. Increasingly safer and more adaptive prosthetic componentries in both the area of prosthetic knee joints and feet enable a wider range of applications, but also require consistent input of the required information by the users.
The prosthetic socket technology for AK-amputees must, on the one hand, be based on adequate management of the different anatomical Situations (Joints, bone, muscle and soft tissue), and, on the other hand, the corresponding biomechanical information from the most diverse everyday situations must also be adequately input and processed.
The following advanced instructional course will introduce the biomechanical requirements and necessities of a contemporary supply of a AK-socket. The requirements for a modern, physiological and sustainable socket design will be addressed. Using systematic approaches and the latest material-technologies, their implementation in practical care is conveyed.
The current state of studies shows the knowledge gained to date from proven care systems, but still leaves a clear gap for discussion on the latest experiences presented here in this field of care. The fact that sophisticated care is increasingly benefiting from the influence of digital media and the resulting processes is demonstrated by the implementation of digital workflows.
The advantages that result from the digitalization of processes and the use of modern socket materials for orthopedic technology can lie in a faster transfer of specific specialist knowledge but also in a systematic continuous learning from the care provided.
Statement of the objective / learning objectives
Experienced prosthetists and biomechanists convey experiences for the treatment of modern AK prosthetic socket systems. They provide specific advice on individual design variants and the influence of digital procedures in this treatment process.
